2Mess of a race and difficult to summarise. Favourite dislodge Jk in stall by rearing just before Starter (at fault) let them go and ran Loose through race. No pace early and Young Simon allowed to go on and built up 5L lead without working. Moderate & green horses spread over 30L at Halfway and 1st 5 over 10L. George Baker not respond in later on return from Break after similar effort at FOLK. Via Aurelia fade late which left YSimon with little opposition. Marrayah probably just OR70s but able to win without looking better class as YS fold late on. He looked Ok ath but light build & OR65-72 type. Worth noting that New Christmas ran a perfect race without his jockey. Settled himself off the rail and off the leader with Teeraha past halfway. As that runner faded just after Hf he put in a brief effort to close up to the leader. That horse responded when joined and he let him go a length up. He spotted Marrayah closing inside the last furlong and went on with her past the fading leader late on. Just before the line he put in an effort to go a neck up on Marrayah and go past the post in the lead. As she pulled up he stopped and went to the gate to go back in. If he could produce that sort of controlled performance with a Jockey on he would have no problem performing to his best. |
