2Recent rain made going GGS. But, fields raced stands' side in straight when they normally go centre to far side with easier going. This race only 0.63s faster than Fillies' maiden which looked average maiden standard (OR75) at best. Archers Road mixed attitude in prelims & mulish at times but more 'up' after jock up. Shorter model but deep chested with length & good diamond geometry. Set probably only an average pace & try to turn race into 2F sprint. Made just a so-so job of this & hang left soon after he made his effort 2F out. Not seem to be at his best in last two races & lacking some enthusiasm. Perhaps needs break & better making faster pace. Need to develop to go to Listed level competitively. Kirsty's Boy in much better condition than early season. Had been driven along throughout the race for his win and similar here. Niggled early & whipped after 1F to what looked just an average pace. Some response after halfway but soon dropped. Monsieur Chevalier's previous wins by pouncing on too free pacemakers & not fully proven over fast 5f. Similar here but pace prob not that strong. Made 3-4L on Archers Road from 2F out & did it comfortably without showing a real change of pace. Similar effort to how Red Jazz overhauled ARoad at Ascot but this a little more convincing overall. Still saying MC better for 6f though. Well grown, mature & not typical 5f sprinter build. OR100+ but prefer to see go to Coventry over Norfolk. |
