5L Winner of this race 0.95 Seconds slower than 10L winner of Division 2. Which makes placed horses in both races similar performance level. Hughes rode Hannon winner of Division 1 but presume went to Windsor before the much later Div 2. Odd set of Halfway positions versus final placings. Suggest wild pace but not look like that. Winner arond 5L off lead at halfway & won by 5L. Placed horses at 3.5L & 2L+. Part of mass fading perhaps because pace pressed on by lesser types and generally over-exuberant ones. Pretium Sceleris pretty wild in prelims and jumping around and fizzy. Did ok to hang on best of the pressers given his pre-race demeanour. OR70+ on Review and usable if he settles down. Aramid a less likeable physical type. One of number of compact & tubby ones in field. Not fit enough and very immature mentally. A surprise he could race so place to pace in some ways. Seems to lack athletic range and seems to be being brought along as a Nursery project. Silver Alliance a leggy and not neatly put together one. Trainer not do strong debuts except for ones bred by the 'family' (the Nijinsky colors). Looked underpowered and immature physically. BBongee look low OR60s type and not seeing races out at all currently. Those four the leaders through halfway and you would expect them to blow up. Titus Two one of those cute little pretty boys that has the girls swooning but too small and neat (lacking range) to be much good other than for ornament or sellers. Salvationist a slightly bulkier version of the same thing. Another being brough along for a Nursery if he is usable in the OR60s somewhere. Tokum another sall compact one and seems to have his own ideas. Able to pick up the pieces and finish a volunteer 2nd but not one to follow. Eduardo the smallest of this compact, 'racy', ones and no interest. Market Maker a different type amongst all the 'Racy' ones. But not look a 6f horse on movement. Has the bulk to develop to be OR70 but presumably at 7f+ with time. From the above the sort of Set-up where on initial view of the readiness of King Torus you kinda think he might be opposable with something ok sized, ready & professional. Then you see the opposition and that feeling disappears and he is going to win anyway. Held up while the lesser ones run themselves out together and look quite good pulling away from them. Since he can tighten up he can improve and you wonder whether he might be a Chesham prospect (10f winning sire) without looking like a 'Big Audio' quality one )this race produced the Chesham 3rd last year). Struggled for pace at times in mid-race and putting real distance onto the others by staying on in the last 1F as the others wilted. Interesting horse in Paddock Review in that he looked fitter and more together once saddled - Picture. Strong finish and - Picture - shows him having enough left to leap sideways towards the finish as he spooked from something. Seemed bigger and better after the run than before - Picture - (unlike Hughes who always looks knackered). [The Video shows KT racing on the Stands rail alone in the last 1.5F (or closest to it). This raises a flag which might suggest this was an advantage and worth 2-3L. Fields tend to race centre track on the course but several examples in 2009 of horses racing alone on rail performing to levels they could not repeat in later races.] |
