SUMMARY
 Field race centre track throughout. Stiff pace set by Geesala on stands side of centre from early on. That filly joined by free running Miserere after 1.5F causing Geesala to respond and increase pace a little and put a numbe runder pressure. Geesala able to settle pace before halfway and delay her effort to 1.5F out. Only challenged by Malpas Missile directly and responded well to that showing a willing attitude. Pace set meant that most of field stalled or fading by the finish. Winner still trying hard and perhaps still able to respond. Lady Royale unable to go pace inside 2F out but respond well in the last half furlong to be the only real closer through the stalled fillies.
Race often requires only an OR80s performance to win and nearly all of field will prove to be nursery types or worse over the full season. Last four renewals have produced only one winner above Nursery level with Aspen Darlin developing well in later season. The 2009 saw a clearer winner who came up short in better company. The 3rd placed horse won a nursery off OR72 in later season and the fourth is still a maiden running off marks in the OR60s. 3 other maidens finished in the first 8 and were still maidens at season end. The message is that the race is often full of precocious fillies with little physical development potential and competing in this the career highlight.
Shape of this race result not suggest anything better. Geesala probably OR80s over a full season. Never able to get into the race at York over flat 5f after being dropped in early. Back on an uphill track, allowed to lead and running 3 seconds slower for 5f than at York meant she could show her best. Showed a tigerish attitude and has some physical size to develop so may get intot he OR90s but probably need to improve for 6f to show that.
LRoyale show an ability to persist well last time at the course running a similar time. Unable to go with the pace at time but plugging on best. Presume OR78-81 at best.
Malpas Missile the Dascombe first string and Kingscote show typical ability to choose correctly. Ran a different race to LRoyale despite their proximity at halfway and the finish. While LR was outpaced inside 2F out MM was able to make a forward move (best of field along with the winner). this took her to challenge the winner inside the last 1F, But stalling by the last half furlong and fading late to lose second. A litle slow to start here and away from the leading group. Presume better 5f filly than LR.
MAMS proabably the low OR70s type that gets 3rd-4th range in race. Attended pace more comfortably than most so usable on faster 5F.
Mawjoodah a good debut and one that might develop more than the average runner here. Comfortable recover from slow start and real forward move inside 2F out.
Inagh River never going pace and given a hard ride to produce a minor response in the last 2F. Has looked better able to lead on faster, flat, 5f last two runs. Never really look happy here & weak in the betting. On size and type an OR79-84 type.
Miserere run too freely and has not put a full race together yet. Capable of OR70-75 when she does int he right conditions.
Orchid Street a moderate response in the last 2F and another who looked better when forcing the pace on a flat 5f.
