Stalls centre. Field race stands rail. Slow time and appear to be a moderate pace with all runners within 4L of lead at halfway. First 3 home lined up on rail at that point with Idiom 3L off lead. 2nd & 3rd at halfway fade badly and that would seem to be an indication of their lack of ability (unless unready for the day) rather than racing too close to a strong pace. Regal Kiss another poor debut for Mark Johnston and performance of recent batch of restart runners poor to moderate. Stable has not had a 2yo winner yet. First second time out (STO) runner for trainer Zarooni and first 2yo win he has had. A range of uncompetitive debuts and this a moderate fourth in suspect race FTO. How will his STOs compete generally? Upgrade Idiom who can clearly rate higher than this level. Left with clear run on rail to close on SC to the last 1F as many of field hang left. Went pace SC quite comfortably and strong finish pulling away for HnH. SC small and got an easy lead on the preferred rail here. Left others behind but easily dealt with by the winner. Seem an OR70-5 type and vulnerable in Open Maidens. LPC had advantage of rail but hang left when efforts went and lack a change of pace again. Plug on late. |
