Rain previous day and slight headwind and slow times. Entirely different day with sun and a very strong wind as a tailwind. Fast times through meeting and this a fast time for Good going. High Spice ran 59.03s in 2009 on GFF going when she beat Radiohead in early May for example. Wind strong enough to account for fast time. Swiss Dream improve notably from Windsor race which featured a clear winner and everything else to run from the race has looked OR73 or under. SD finish with the OR65-72 fillies at Windsor but had an excuse having made a big move from the widest draw to cross in front of the field to attend the pace. The zip she showed to do that was quite taking. Travelled comfortably here and clear win without being hard pressed. Trainer has said she will run in the Queen Mary or the Albany (6f) at Royal Ascot and he is sure she has enough pace for 5f. Interesting contender for the Queen Mary who looks as if she can improve further. The tractability she showed here allied to a good natural pace might well allow her to sit behind the pacemakers at Ascot and finish the race off as others stall. Blade Pirate some minor support of debut for trainer John Ryan who had good batch of 2yos in 2009. Ran poorly. Trainer said earlier in week he had an illness problem with his string and had closed down his yard for 2-3 weeks. Just starting to have runners again. BP outclassed by the first three but run much better than on debut. |
