SUMMARY
Slow time and 0.58s faster than the following 2yo seller with this winner carrying 5lbs more. Stalls stands' rail & field race centre track.
Slow pace set for first half of race with Nova. & Joy. in leading line with MD behind. AB recover comfortably from a slow start & less than 2L off lead at halfway going ok. SJ given a mulish performance on debut and trainer suggested this was because she was 'in season'. On the evidence here she is just awkward all of the time. Tail flashing from the start, head held up and at an awkward angle and refusing to go forward in a balanced way.
MD found pace too slow to sit comfortably behind and switched out to clear run before halfway and allowed to creep up to join the leading pair at halfway. No notable effort but just allowed to stride on soon after taking the lead and putting pressure on others. Novabridge soon dropped and giving one of his poor efforts and looks a suspect attitude when put under pressure but ok when allowed to dominate against lesser (seller?) horses. Joy. go with MD initially but working much harder. AB an ok response until stalling around the 1F pole.
MD finally asked to make an effort around 1F out and pull 2-3L clear of Joy. quite quickly. That rival just outpaced and plugged on at same pace to the line to close the gap back as MD was eased late on.
MD a very rhythmical mover and able to run this slower time quite comfortably and can rate higher. Joy. a typical smaller Evans trier but presume OR60s. AB a typical anonymous debut by Ed Dunlop standards and typical chance of improving to be OR70+ on profile.
