SUMMARY
Strong pace and field well spread from early on. Kheya & LK forcing pace together at halfway with OS (niggled) over 2L back with MC. FP at 3.5L and then a gap back to GPS, Bellemere & Clipthorne at 7-8L back. Other three well back with BC at 12L, BL at 20L+ and Mossgorda 30L back.
Pace so strong and mix of abilities so varied that the first five at halfway all fade notably with the better types OS & LK able to hang on best to be at front of faders. But, softened up for a Closer. Only possible candidates where the three 6th to 8th at halfway. GPS already known as poor and Bellemere not finish 5F off on debut after shwoing pace and similar here on easier track.
Which left Clipthorne to plug on past dead horses to lead on the line in a way that just does not happen without an overly strong pace. Runs for reliable smaller stable who has had a 2yo debut winner (with the only 2yo to make a debut for him and win) to bring the point home. Without Clipthorne a last-filly-standing result between those with some previous form after a pace war. Clipthorne a bigger type in group and able to mount effort and show willing attitude to head down reach for line and lead late.
Saddle on Novalist seem to slip to left on exit from stall. Horse then tried to buck in response to the girth strap slipping rather than being nasty. Continued to buck after jockey unseated.
