SUMMARY
Rail moved in 2 metres from normal position to try to counteract the enormous advantage in running the stands' rail. This bias has been active for years and not a '2010' happening as some sources have suggested. This race would suggest some success if you wanted to remove the rail bias. FM run Lane 3 off rail through race and MD fade off leading on it and no late race Closers up rail like they were on a Magic Carpet. Less successful if you like Rail Biases as a tool to carve races up with.
But Halfway versus placings tell and interesting story and the pace perhaps a bit strong. Two races in effect with the first 6 at halfway 2L+ clear of the rest and no mingling of two groups in later race. Triers at the front and 'Non Triers' (let's call it moderate, poor & Clueless) at the back. First 6 spread overl 4L at halfway with 1st four stack out from the rail in lanes with AA (Lane 2) in behind them. Best of those with previous runs (although lower OR60s form levels) hang on best of 1st 4 and FC only just caught by FM on the line. Pace set slowly folding the front 6 inside-out, as amended by ability, and resolving right on the line for dramatic effect.
2nd debut win for a Coakley horse in three goes in 2010 but the Market seems to have wised up to his thoroughness (and ability to acquire competitive horses from a limited input).
