Field race stands rail side of Outer course. Softer going and no obvious rail bias. Real mixed bag of size and shapes in Paddock Review. Picture - of duel to line between 1st & 2nd. Picture - of the 3rd to 5th drifting home 10L+ adrift of the leaders. Steady on Ahern. Bussa a shorter and lengthier type but solidly built. In excellent condition and the fittest by some way (a real benefit in these conditions). Outpaced to some extent over 5f last time and better suited to this 6f on slower going. Presume OR76-9 and battled hard here after needing encouragement before halfway. Probably below average scope to develop. First winner for new sire Iceman who has had plenty of runners but not produced 5f winners. Probably going to have a moderate record but check if he runners need 6f+ & softer going. CL second string on debut for trainer but quite promising given a quiet ride. Tallest in field and ok power behind but not that neatly made and more upright in front and gawky necked. Ok effort to pull clear and OR78-82. Silver Shine one of those development projects that once hooked into you have to follow. Over The Cliff (OTC) if needs be because and unbacked Nursery win too galling. A bigger type (although slimming down) and ought to be OR75+ sprinter. Wild on debut and a little better STO but still never in race. Here he is - Picture - at an early stage before this race. All sorts of head halters and devices to keep a firm grip on him and the smaller lass he, literally, dragged around the Parade Ring on debut replaced by a bulkier lad. So, he's still a bit stupid and needs to settle down and not nearly fit enough to finish a race off, especially on this going. Settles down a bit in the prelims. Loses ground at the start and a mild mid race move before expiring and eased (along with the other 3 stragglers with the jockeys stood up admiring the way the front 2 were going away from them and helping their Nursery rating). So, a horse who will get a handicap mark worse than he is as a physical specimen and if he ever grows up enough to put a real race together he will win a Nursery. Mr Haggas in 'Prescott' mode in this race rather than SS being useless? A good question. RS very well prepared for this but rather Dip-backed and lighter behind. This sort of set-up does not stop a horse of this size winning if they wind it up early but it proabbly takes 15-30 points off the best performance level it can achieve. Spartic another smaller one for trainer McCabe and not that ready. OR50s if usable. And finally we have a short, fat one. Brave Tiger is by the sire Shamardal but is the sort of shorter, heavy build type that Kyllachy tends to get. He may be built that way but he looks to have a belly for the day and not be fit enough. Running slightly freely early to lead and, unsurprisingly, fading quickly given the apparent readiness for the day. The bulk to tighten up into a strong type when wound up and improve. |
