SUMMARY
Fast conditions on day.
Odd race as a valuable seller with a high minimum claiming price. Hard to understand what the aim was. Typical field with 6 fillies and one male (EM on debut) and only one that looked like it wouldn't have turned up if this was a £500 seller.
FCF has solid early season form and looked OR73+ type and better than normal seller type this early. Poor run and appeared to be broken by setting a solid pace and fading by 1F out. Perhaps an indication that the stable knew what they were doing dropping her to a seller?
Overall shape of the race suggest the pace too strong with early fades. That effect might be caused by a group of non-stayers and regressive horses as well. FCF run poorly, Kheya fade badly but always does and MM fade and then eased but has never looked enthusiastic nor a speed horse. Her win here over 5F was from Kheya suggesting a poor race that something had to win (and suggests Roodee Queen really has improved lately).
Which view you take of the reason for the fades feeds into what to think of MM effort. On race shape she travelled best of the pacemakers and the only one to finish the race off from them. She won from a filly 4L off the lead at halfway so a 'deep closer' in the terms of a fast 5F race. MM won with some comfort and looked like an improved effort. The Nurseries at this course can be pretty weak and on this if she turned up in one still in form she could rate higher.
EM a very remote 4th plugging on into the tired fillies late on. Too green early to keep up with the girls and perhaps just too slow.
