SUMMARY

Field race stands' rail.
Even allowing for the 4 x long SPs in the first 6 positions through halfway the complete turnaround of 1st-6th with 7th-12th by the finish suggest the pace too strong for the distance. Jockey Queally on Straight Line not help the prominent racers by increasing the pace by 3F out and making the final efforts by 2.5F out. But, even given that the stalls and fades start very early.
In particular the two O'Brien runners not get home off the pace set having been a neck and 1.5L off the lead at halfway. But worth recording that 8 juvenile runners for that stable at the meeting produced one 20/1 2nd placer (in a race where the pace assisted a Deep Closer) and the other competitive ones finished in the 4th to 8th range.
Zaidan make ground comfortably along the rail just after halfway and before the leaders fading would have assisted that move.
Sonning Rose shown ability to make extended later race efforts from off the pace in her previous runs and show similar here. Took time to find a clear run on the rail and no immediate response when she was. But, the only runner other than Zaidan to finish the race off fully.
