Average pace and a race which became an effort from the turn to the straight to the finish. Moderate changes of position with the first 6 clear to the straight. Two worst faders from that set were RH who raced too hard early from wide draw and hung 2 wide on bend but lesser profile anyway, and PS ok type for OR70+ to some level but fizzy type and sweating again here. Effort early to cross to the lead and raced a little freely although settled the pace to the bend. An average forward effort before fading. Not finishing races off and has led in his last two efforts. Can rate better if settles better. Hokoumah typically well prepared Suroor runner and stable seems to have debut runners closer to the normal high level now. But, also typically, medium sized at most and not promising great improvement. Made the most immediate effort in the straight and got to the lead but worn down by SA. Trainer Suroor ran 14 horses by 10th July in 2009 and 13 of those were season winners. Record so far of 4 runners (1 x NR and missed FTO) and three have won (all STO). Again seems to be being selective with those that run. In 2009 the number of debut winners built through the season until the last 14 debuts produced 8 FTO wins & 3 places. Hokoumah come across as an ok maiden winner but not better than that on this. SA the first STO runner for Walter Swinburn of year and finish race off well properly after running too freely on debut. Bigger type than Hokoumah & PS. Trainer often runs a set of competitive 2yos early. First 4 runners in 2009 produced 3 later winners. Four debuts so far this season have produced 2 places. At least two of his other runners so far in 2010 have shown promise to be winners (Elegant Muse in particular). Strong debuts after the early competitive set usually for the 'Family'. Mishtaag wild in the prelims on debut and missing for almost 3 months after that. Still look to be growing up here and outpaced on the bend. Plugged on in the last 1F as the others slowing. Ok promise at an OR60s level by RA. CC an example of the 'other' sort of Fretwell ovwned debut. Longer opening SP, drift in Market and uncompetitive. Too green to get involved but some response in straight. |
