Moderate Headwind. Race develop down the stands rail and a pretty orderly slotting in of horses onto the rail in line with draws. Last six after 1.5F made up of the 5 from the widest draws dropping across behind the field plus Humdrum, from a high draw, who blew the break and in last, a little adrift, at that point with jockey Fortune dithering over whether to ask her to try to get involved or wait for next time. Yes, your Majesty, I thought I would teach it a lesson it wouldn't forget. Or, perhaps not. The first four by then made up of the three highest draws plus the horse drawn 8. Cape Dollar make more than the average effort to be further forward than her draw starting pointing in 5th. Pace solid, but usable, and race already part settled by 1.5F with the first 6 already spread over 3L+ and a break of 3L back to 7th+ and they are already out of contention to win unless a pace war breaks out. Looking at the final placings not much happened after halfway if you discount the three weaker profile runners who faded to the last three places and allowing Humdrum to jog by them. Cape Dollar prove her promise on debut was real and show the same strong finish and presume she can compete at OR85+ level. CD win her makes tame effort by Al Sharood at Royal Ascot more puzzling. Googlette is going to iron an average Maiden field out STO, you would think. Mortitia make more than the average places from the rear group to get to 4th. Other than that a very orderly race with a lot less of the choas, hanging and traffic problems of the previous fillies' auction event. Well done girls. An easier race to read as 2-D form. Rating level may be high but first four all solid types and problem for rating starts with 5th & 6th. Neither would be obvious maiden winner class and probably the wrong side of the Changeover Point. Perhaps helped to their position by comfortable runs along the rail. See how they go next time to check the rating level rather than expecting them to be ok maiden types. Little Book look a bigger, galloper, and 7f unlikely to be far enough for her ont he way she moves. Trainer said in early season she was unlikely to make a 2yo and a different type to her sibling Donna Blini (6f Group1 winner, softer version) on the way she moved. That looked a good quote on her effort here going up and down like a boat. Just the sort to make Jamie look a bit wobbly and probably seasick when he came back. On the other hand an ok size and why out this early if you do not think she is a 2yo? Neither Hannon filly able to show what they can do with Humdrum out the back from the start. Celebrity very green and drawn widest and get across to rail after 3F. never pick up in last 2F because not know how to respod to jockey request. After the early season blast of 10 FTO wins in his first 20 runners that garnered a lot of the £10,000 bonuses the Hannon debuts have settled back to the closer to the normal level. 6 in 47 goes since that blast and the 6 include higher class types like Strong Suit, Memory, King Torus plus dual winner Jollywood as you expect as the quality needed for him to get a debut win bar and accident in a duff race. The other two later FTO winners have been Major Dude (probably useful but won an empty race) & Libranno who won a Newmarket maiden as second string and probably OR83+. |
