Slow time for Firm going and race moderate to average on profile and final performance moderate because of an overly strong pace. First 2f+ of race saw a Relay of pressing leaders with Scommettitrice starting things off by breaking best and leading. Then Byronic driven along on the rail after a slightly slow break. Took the lead after 0.5Ff but going too freely. Which would be more action then many races see early on but still another layer of pace. PAC Another clower starter and then pull through after 1.5F to head Byronic and go 1.5L clear and cross the the rail. A subtlely different pace set up to break the front of the race in later race. Not one of those frantic paces whch stretches the field over 10L+ early and breaks it up that way. Instead none to the prominent races ever able to get settled into a rhythm but always going too freely themselves and then having to react to doing something worse. HT around 5.5L off lead at halfway and with a clear run in centre track. First 6 in two banks of three with leading line pressing on together and 2nd rank niggled along to hang on to them. Half Truth one of two winners on day from the ruck of a Haydock maiden that featured a stiff pace through halfway and broke up early because of it on softer going. HT outpaced by that mid-race pace increase and left with no response when the final efforts went 2F out. Zarooni 7lbs apprentice riding with both Dettori & Ajtebi at Kempton evening meeting. Presume the jockey had been told to hold her up here and that meant he fell into exactly the right way to run the race. Mildly plugging on to pick up the pieces and get to the lead on the line getting a lot of weight with the allowance. Feels like poor form and not one to follow and better types in race. Byronic second strong debut for trainer Cox on day following a FTO winner at Salisbury. Trainer gets regular debut wins in June and into July. Byronic an expensive purchase for new sire and in a weak race. Had to switch off the rail and did best of those that got involved in the early race relay. Trainer tends to prepare his 2yos pretty fully but a solid effort and presume better than winner. DC not progressing but another to pull into the pace relay early and race too hard. Lower rating because of that. Ok effort to get to lead before fading. Break back from those thre to the rest. CW small and moderate. PAC some support in the Market and tipped by H. Taylor of ATR as an eyecatcher. Faded badly on debut and looked a poor call. Raced too strongly and faded badly. While B2yoR has a more time for Mr Taylor than the average Pundit his efforts with Eyecatchers tend to be very variable. Some, clearly have input from general information he receives despite the claims to the contrary. PAC is an OR60s type of his sire and with scope to develop and tighten but that type of info is never integrated into the Eyecatching stuff (which is always relative and rarely considers the absolute quality of what the Eyecatcher was doing it against). But the Dascombe stable form is patchy and there was nothing to indicate they thought he was going to flower today. The other 2yo tip on the day from Mr Taylor make this one seem like an act of Solomon. What could anyone have possibly seen in Jibouti's debut effort in a bad race to make you want to support him in any race (let alone one you have not analysed) after a huge break? Either it is solely a Classic bit of Sires-For-Going tipping (the most widespread and over-rated type of the day, the 'Bollocks Du Jour' you could say) or someone has told you something. Otherwise, it is about at the Agnes Haddock level. If you want to tip everything by Exceed And Excel when in transfers to the Polytrack then just say so. Don't dress it up with guff about Clive Brittain's methods (whatever they might be). Blackelyf running an anonymous race as second string with jockey R. Smith riding, a noteworthy negative on the evidence this season, (having moved on in previous years from the Hannons who used to use him as the Last Resort and then blame him when the rabbit he was on did not win - as any reasonable analysis would have told you before the race). Stumbled clipping heels on the back of Byronic as that one cut out from the rail to get to Lane 3 to get round the fading front line to get a run. NR excuse for Rossetti related to jockey Fortune being injured the previous day. A large number of jockeys banned and multiple meetings on day. Horse had looked very green and racing head up and difficult to ride in the later stages on debut. Presume Fortune booked, as Hannon often does, as someone to sort-one-out if required. |
