SUMMARY
 More 'Whacky Races' courtesy of Ajtebi's overly pressing attitude (the jockey with the permanent 3lbs allowance). Drawn against the rail on Postscript and set a stiff pace that spread the field out over 20 lengths. Only first 4 through halfway within 3L of lead with 5-6th at 6-7L and 7th+ at 10L and more back. Strong pace, wide draws, inexperience and more dust and kickback than usual ensure a difficult race for newcomers.
Postscript first string on Colours but brough suspect form beneath the headline of two places in previous races. Ran well here but unable to finish race off. Would have won with a less pressing pace and without Deep South in the field.
DS second string to Postscript and drift in Market. But given a good ride by Dettori and able to drop in second rank to the stiff pace. Make strong effort off the pace but final time effort below average.
Solid debut by UAE Storm as the only other newcomer to hold onto the pace. Able to produce a forward effort without looking a balanced mover. Trainer does not get many strong debuts these days and perhaps Breeze-up background part of reason for competence. Looks ok debut although a race, in general, that is not easy to read in quality terms.
As ever with a race at this pace a number of Deep Closers in the straight looking quite 'Eyecatching' in making places but to produce slow times and perhaps just staying onto dead horses. TTL seem to do a bit more than that in travelling well enough in midfield through halfway and able to make a forward effort before any 'collapse' and keep it going to finish. Taller type if lacking some build. Perhaps a race to take the winner from and perhaps the 3rd and then see how the 2nd & 5-7th go on earliest later runs.
Diamond Penny given the common Spencer debut ride where he (the jockey) never seems balanced or on top of matters. Inconclusive debut and sire struggling for winners.
HJ the classic Deep Closer in this sort of set-up running past others in the last 1F like they are trees to get to 6th from bing 18L adrift at halfway. Real ability or indicator of race type?
Similar comments about SS although he made some ground earlier than HJ.
