Unsatisfactory race and slower time. Develop into a 2F sprint and BP hamper two of his rivals badly which really left race as a short sprint between him and Fifth Ave. Novabridge has looked a horse with ability but probably an unhelpful attitude (at best) and as likely to pack it in tamely as show what he can do. Has won twice on contrasting going conditions but able to dominate garbage to a greater extent in both successes and Redcar win over-rated with Tanked Up already regressing as later runs have shown. Has struggled when meeting better horses. Hustled to lead here and slowed pace around th bend. Responded inside the last 2F but comfortably outpaced by BP and Hughes allow that one to hang across immediately and carved Novabridge up. Horse packed it in then. Not a horse to trust but likely to win again back in sellers against lesser quality. Coeus a god example of how just minor things can make the difference in a race. Led last time for a win and suspect he might well have tried to do same here. But, stumbled picking up from the stalls and this set him back far enough to allow Novabridge & BP to cut across in front of him. Jockey then forced to wait and accept others pace. Making a similar forward move to BP inside 2F out but then hampered first by Novabridge being carried onto him and then by BP in person continuing to hang over to rail. Plug on ok but on debut had not looked a 'speed' horse in the sense of making an immdeiate effort. Better for being able to put sustained pressure on others. Final furlong look like that here with him struggling to raise extra pace in sprint. Like to see him frontrunning next time. Fifth Avenue clearly identified as 2yo type by trainer and unlikely to progress much and decline in OR terms aat some point as her lack of physical development scope drags her down. So, he is running her in everything to try to get a win through persistence. Held up here then moved up closer when Spencer started to slow the pace. Took a little longer than BP to get going but the a similar effort to him to the line and a clear run. Reliable type and a trier. |
