Rail out 10yds. Moderate to average race on Profile. Race has primarily relied on larger stables to provide the relative quality for the race in the last three years. Getting to the start of the stage where horses starting over 5f mostly lesser types. This race full of small fillies with Darwin Star bigger in the group. DS entered in seller but a NR last time and lower OR60s type. A free runner and not get home fully. Allowed to get a comfortably lead here and mostly raced in control apart from when joined by BBC after 1.5f when a minor pace increase. With a lead DS able to delay final effort and only caught 0.5F out stalled after that. Slightly improved effort and staying better but strong indicator of overall form level. PT a FTO winner for Clive Cox at an absolutlely typical time of year. Also had a debut runner beaten in a photo later at Bath. Just an ok effort to get past DS but took 1f+ to gain 1L on her and only going away at finish with DS stalling. Trainer tends to try this type in Listed+ race but nothing in performance here to suggest a better type. BBC some each-way support and given an attacking ride to join DS. The helped by the average pace and late race sprint to place. Smaller and competent here and probably limited scope to develop. Reps from 'bigger' stables not add much quality on the day and suspect for the future. Chemise small and a little green but losing ground on the leading three and profile not strong for a better type and suspect as Open Maiden quality. Hannon will still have usable types to make 5f debuts but first string Ebtihaj a NR here and jockey Hughes not switch to Regal Rocket and jockey MacDonald left on. He seems a long way down the Hannon ladder and mostly gets the moderate to garbage to ride unless they really need a lightweight in an Auction race. RR drift in Market. Look ok size in group but not able to compete with pace and too green. Silver Show represent Channon & Jaber Abdullah and pair had FTO winner at Brighton previous day. Short in Market but quality of race on Profile should be factored in. Notably small in group and lost ground after 2f with Munro inactive. No later response and no obvious promise. PBeach race centre track and not seem to move that well on firmer ground. Trainer does not target 2yo winners and the few he has tend to win or place on debut despite his overall 'handicap development' MO. |
