Track at full width. Another £10k Bonus race and another Hannon win. A lot of inexperience on show and only LPNB got away from the stalls, on time, and in a straight line with the others either lagging or bumping into each other sideways. Only the winner did not hang Left in the last 2F. LPNB only hang late but others range from hanging quite badly to Darwin Star who was offering to go left before halfway and continued to the line. LPNB seller declared but seemed to run ok in Maiden here last week. But never in that race and suspect sub-OR70. Supported here but a moderate joint favourite profile. Ryan Moore had ridden BP on debut so a possible he was not 2nd string to Sir Rocky. Market took time to indicate what was expected but SR drift notably late and support for LPNB and some for BP. BP prove too good for LPNB taking the lead off her at 2F out and always on top and going cler of her as she stalled late. Sir Rocky has a very stout pedigree for a horse starting in April over 5f. Old School trainers would look at the pedigree and start it over 7f in September no matter what it did on the gallops. Hannon has got 5f wins (often the only ones) for stouter sires but it often indicates a high class winning at 5f on raw ability and they improve over further. Never look knowing enough to win here although got to second rank ok. Refused to go foward when pressed in the last two furlogs and had his head up looking green. Hughes tried on whip stroke to the last furlong and no difference to respose. Eased later on when horse was clearly not going to respond. Hung a little left and perhaps following the others. Not obviously unwilling and seemed more being too immature to face up to the challenge on the day. But a niggle. If he is good then he will be ready STO and the Market should still indicate he is considered useful. Into the weak Profiles then and suspiciously close to the front 2 considering the slow starts and hanging. Slightly suspect Estimate levels. Darwin Star did show some ability to get from Last to 3rd around 2F out reasonably comfortably. Hung onto that position despite hanging towards the far rail at the finish. Reginald Claude expensive for stable and better than normal debut if the ratings level is ok but perhaps an indicator of over-rated. Check |
