SUMMARY

First Nursery of Season. Official Rating (OR) figures used come from the 'Racing Post' handicapper's estimate of what they might be, BHA have not published the OR level.
Some light rain but either very fast conditions or this was a strong performance by the winner. Breaking 70s for 6f at the track rare and usually done in September in the Redcar Trophy. Look down the list of the 8 times at 70.7s or faster since the start of 2004 and you have 4 Trophy winners, including Total Gallery, plus 4 maiden winners including Distinctive & Bond Fastrac in 2009.
MajM running off OR77 which looked light and this looked an OR88+ effort. You look at his OR here compared to Sacrosanctus and it is baffling how the BHA guy has reached his ratings.
Odd race visually with the field racing centre track. Looked like strong pace but all 10 of field within 2.5L of lead at halfway, basically in two banks. One exception was the winner who was in behind the banks after 2F but not looking comfortable. Niggled along as if outpaced but jockey took decision to switch him out for a clear run before halfway and able to make a forward effort into the pace set (so not outpaced). Perhaps just resenting the 'kickback' of divots in behind. Pace strong enough to put pressure on every thing and provide base for winner to turn in fast time and break the weaker ones into fading notably.
