Fast conditions. Field race Centre to Stands strip. Pace too strong with field spread over 8L+ at halfway. Leading 5 within 1.5L of lead then a gap back to WH & BK at 3L+ and 4.5L and driven along. This pair became the closers when the pacemakers folded. Like watching two races made up of a zippy front line of smaller ones going too fast for the slightly bigger ones to keep with them. Last furlong folds the two sets together and the pace pressure decides how much folding in there is. Make this a 4f race (races that distance have been suggested) and the first two here would not have made the first three. Like the difference between 60m & 100m races for humans.MadamM seemed to show improved form LTO and did best of the Pace Pressers here and looked the most likely winner until fading late. Taken on by JH and ran a bit too freely because of that. LVS the 'Maiden' winner in the field but had won a 3 runner event from a stablemate who has struggled to find his level with a claimer win since. Topweight here on suspect form and second string to BK (a seller winner) and 7lbs apprentice ridden. Even given the doubts over his form and a return from a break a poor effort. Looked some mix green or unwilling and a fast race going too quickly for him from the start. Ought to be OR60s usable but need to see more competitiveness from him mentally. |
