SUMMARY

Mixed ride from O'Shea on Ocean Drift. Bungled the break from the widest stall then attacked early to get over from wide draw to the leading line. Got to the lead after 2F. Once in the lead settled the pace to a crawl around the bend. This stacked up those behind with several running in Lanes 2-3 and KOv ending in Lane 4. All twelve runners packed into just over 6L from the lead at halfway. Final placings versus halfway positions testify further to a slower race with little changes.
Ocean Drift too green on debut and unable to run a competent race. Comfortable win here but hints of greenness and a tricky type. Race with head up and not keep straight. Jockey trying to do as little as possible in last furlong and just keeping him balanced and going forward fast enough. Left the impression he would have become unbalanced if put under any pressure.DPenny come across as an upright galloper and found being asked to quicken off a tight bend to much for his basic pace and balance. Dropped to 7-8th range and hanging 1.5F out. Plug on inside th elast 1F to get back to a remote 4th.
