SUMMARY

Pace too strong set by free running Coconut Ice and attended by Molly Mylenis give a more attacking race in first time Visor having not got into first two races early on. CI hang right after 1F and make effort and outpace some and put pressure on others. CI then hang left just before 2F out and headed by MM with pair 1.5L+ clear of others. CI soon regain lead when balanced and plus on until stalling into the last 1F. Molly Mylenis faded notably late on and a good example of the Power Output balance of many horses. Hold them up in rear and they finish the race off making up places. Ride tthem close to the pace and that finish has gone in later race and they fade and lose places instead.
CI supported and presumably though to be ok OR75+ and with pace. Had hung at Thirsk and this undulating track not ideal and hung at various times. Add this to the free running and she softened herself up and underperformed. Did well to hang on to second and not fully fade like MM.
Race run in 0.21s slower than 2009 edition with this winner carrying 6lbs less but GF last year and a tailwind. Last year's race produced no later winners and a moderate race. Profile for this race suggest a similar level unless CI & MM ok. MAMS ran race as fast as she could and unable to go pace after CI's early effort.
GP ran straight and on rail but seemed to lack pace to get involved until plugging on the stallers late on.
Vienna Woods effort either suggest leaders faded notably or she has some ability. Smaller and a trier but inexperienced early and got behind. Switched to Centre track and made, what seemed, a real forward move to fourth 1F out then fading. NE even greener and some response in the last 2F. But, overall view that this 'promise' may be suspect given the overall race quality at a low level.
