Field race stands side. Master Macho run down stands' rail with Blade Pirate (Morning Support in weak Market at that time) behind and other close to rail. MM break best but headed by pressing Belle Royale, running in centre track, after half a furlong. Emma's Gift the first test of the Craven Meeting Fillies' Maiden Form and responded to BR taking lead to run second with her. EG finished 4th at Newmarket and behind the 3 from bigger stables that had profiles to be better types. Those behind her all bits-and-pieces profile for smaller stables and suspect for whether they were long-term OR70+ types. EG seemed to run well and get close enough to front 3 to think she might be on the Changeover Point. Poor run here and broken by BR who had been placed in a claimer FTO. EG fizzy in prelims and perhaps too much but raise question over Newmarket race. That form gets two further good tests with Phoebs & Mother Jones (5th & 6th at NMKT behind EG) running at Lingfield & Musselburgh on Friday. BR a typically competitve attitude for the Brisbourne 'First Runner Winner' each year. Persisted well off the pace she set and gave CB a full-on glare as she went by late on. Another little granite bastard. CB 20/1 and apprentice ridden and Cole stable usually knows more about their FTO winners. Suggests they were not expecting a win and that this one is that good. Possible she fell into an accidental win here in a race that fell apart because of the pace. After a good break she dropped back to be 7th at 3.5L at halfway and a typical 'Midfield' winner & LBL (Lengths behind leader) for this sort of Race Shape. Worth noting that her sibling Piece Of My Heart also won on debut in April in a slightly better race. That one improved notably from debut in physical terms. Reginald Claude finished quite close to Bilko Pak FTO and that looked suspect and the Race Shape not really stretch field out. Slow relative time on day in retrospect. Surprise to see him 28/1 here even on a suspect reading of his debut. Travelled ok for 3.5F but faded quickly at the furlong pole. |
