Strong Headwind. Stalls Centre. Field gradually work over to Stands Side by Halfway. Lack of immediate strong promise from the newcomers, along with a lot of greenness & educational rides, left a race between two runners with previous places. WD able to pull clear after crossing to rail comfortably and leading at a usable pace. TTL left behind but a clear 2nd and not appeal as Open Maiden winner and probably low OR70s. Which means the Changeover Point is worryingly well forward. Possible future maiden winners amongst the newcomers did manage to get to the 3rd-5th range despite the quiet rides and inexperience. CaptB the most striking promise and held up well in rear by a typically non-involving Hills' ride (either variety of Twin). Big type and going well after halfway and looked like he would spring forward when let go. Actually took a long time to get going by being green but a going on 3rd at the line after still being 8th at 1F out. Ok promise. ProfR even greener when asked to make his effort and rolled about like he had been asked to solved a Rubik's Cube rather than run a bit faster in a straightish line. Some progress eventually and average promise. LAT given a quiet ride and a minor forward effort to get to a clear 3rd. Stalling late and Dettori packed it in early to ensure 3rd was unmaintainable. No Enquiry. Just ordinary promise and not a deifinite Open Maiden type for NTO. Couple behind ran better than final positions. Moriarty able to make real forward effort to 2f out and get into the places. Faded more than average in the last 1F so hiding that promise. Korngold runs for a trainer who likes hidden debuts for an owner who likes his horss to be developed slowly. Widest drawn but crossed behind the field after a slow start. Ended up on the Stands' rail going to 2F out and travelling ok but blocked by the one horse anywhere near him in behind the field. That carried him 5L+ back. Got back into the midfield gap with a bit of later race plugging once clear for minimal asking. Check NTO. |
