SUMMARY

Stalls far side of nearer course.
Slow pace for first 3f and poor final time. Line of three within a head of lead at halfway and first 8 within 2.5L. Other two around 4L back. Jockey on winner said afterwards they had jogged for the first half of the race and he was happy with the way SA had been able to pick up off that pace and win despite being green. But that does not tell the full story. Queally on Panoptic kicked the race off too early and had made his final effort by the 3F out mark. This is 1F early and final efforts tend not to last more than 2F before staling & fading. That happened here and Panoptic produce ok forward effort but fading in line with normal expectations. SA would not have won if after 2f of the final efforts and was still in the 3rd to 4th range and just starting to go forward against stalling rivals. The final hill allowed the win.
Azzoom & NP run better than winner to some extent having been challenging Panoptic 3f out and only stalling in the last 0.5F.
Interesting ride by jockey on Fastada. Led at the modest pace and then jockey did not react when head towards the last 3F by Queally. Sat quietly until asking for the final effort towards the last 1f. This meant he was finishing the race off better than some who had gone by with the early efforts.
