Spencer on JH cross over to Far rail early. Most of field follow and race Centre to Far Side. Pace too strong and first two home held up behind for the first 2f. Race encapsulate a number of themes of trainer's stables form. Ed McMahon has built up through the season in recent seasons with best record from July onwards. This one of his two previous winners this year to win a second time on the day. His last winner two days ago was a winner. All three of his first set of debuts have won and two of them twice. Less good news elsewhere with the Dascombe 2yos still in moderate form and running inconsistently. His runner here one of his two previous winners this year to run poorly on the day. 9 debut wins in 2009 and a feature of his methods. 1 from 30 goes in 2010 and FTO runs as variable as his other runners. Michael Dods not had any winner since June 26th but has had a lot of placed runners. Horses not running poorly but struggling to get winners. Both 2yo runners on card placed without threatening to get involved to win. Has a lot more expensive horses this year but not got his 2yos into strong form yet. David Evans in period where a number of his early runners have been showing better form and have looked in very good condition. JH ran poorly here after typically poorly judged front-running effort by Spencer but has been showing improved form recently and supported here. Captain Dimitrios a more substantial type and upgraded from sellers to run ok in Nurseries. Multiple wins by his 2yos a feature and always worth watching for his juveniles thriving off a heavy workload that other trainers (perhaps Channon excepted) would not try. |
