Field race Centre-Stands strip. Average pace early at most with field spread over only 6L at halfway. Moderate form and sub-OR70. HD ran ok STO in a slower race around a bend where making ground in the straight was very difficult. Got behind after a slow start and blocked on the rail when trying to make some progress ont he bend. 6th through halfway and finished 6th there. Channon gets another winner for the BA employees' partnership. So a minor bit of good news in the background of the mess of industrial disputing. Suspect form overall and Sixty Roses showed more than a hint of not wanting to go to the lead. Jogged alongside leader Timothy T for much of the last 2f having appeared to be going better than him 2f out. Finally got by him late on after HD had gone by. ALBD seems to lack any turn of pace and has got outpaced and then plugged on late in both previous races to place. Got outpaced again here but never recovered. Might just be a better race but also had his head up as if finding the going a bit firm. Some vague interest in Coeur purely on trainer method grounds. First runner of season and moderate debuts typical. But STO improvements and the earliest debuts being the winners & placers if he is going to have any are the way he does things. On MO of the trainer a STO place at a longer SP no surprise. Coeur just about an ok size but apart from that did everything wrong here. Accompanied by a pony to the start. Started slowly and niggled along to get going. Then ran too freely as the pace settled early. Started hanging left after halfway and never got balanced. Eventually eased when adrift, out of his own on the wing, tongue lolling out. A grisly debut effort but the trainer might bring him back super fit and 'fixed' STO. See what the reviewer says. |
