SUMMARY
Slow time for GF. No other race on card less than 8f.
Pace look solid early with Hortensia, GW & free-running MrOp in line from rail. Lenjawi Pride originally settled in rear from wide draw but jockey Kingscote decide to make effort after half a furlong to progress to lead wide and then lean in on leading line. Perhaps he thought the pace not strong. LP make this move reasonably comfortably. MrOp run too free through race and respond to LP cutting him up bu fighting for his head and getting unbalanced. Hortensia race in control on rail trhoughout and allow LP to come across her to rail after 2F. Bahceli break a litle slowly and a little green at times and settle on rail.
Efforts made to 2F out and outpaces DS, GW & MLT to various degrees. LP press on until stalling into the last half furlong. MrOp fading inside the last furlong when 2nd. Hortensia plug on up the rail to pick up stallers without making any real forward move. Bahceli switched to centre track in straight and take time to get balanced and organised. Go on strongly at finish and comfortable win.
Bahceli second win for MPR syndicate for Hannon this year. This one had been woking with the other one (Bilko Pak) and similar standard apparently. Green and can improve for that and strong finish a good sign. Has size to devleop further but suspect form here with slow time and leaders pressing on too much. In effect only had Hortensia to beat. She ran a very competent race but is small and compact and limited on that and probably lacks development potential.
MrOp run too freely and can improve for settling.
Dascombe ran two with STO MLT ridden by apprentice when Kinscote had ridden her on debut here. That jockey on LP here which should mean she is the first string. Market not reflect that and MLT shorter. MLT had looked a stayer and got outpaced here in a slow race on softer ground before plugging on late. Raced widest here but again outpaced on the steep uphill section and unable to mount any response in straight and fade in the final furlong. Suggest a slower stayer dragged along at too fast a pace for her ability despite the time. Needs to step up in trip on this.
LP a typical forcing FTO ride for trainer & jockey combo that produced 9 x debuts wins in 2009. No sign of that this year and this effort probably as close as we have seen. Forcing on from a wide draw meant she could not finish the race off. Hortensia could not close on her with an effort for example and just picked LP up by sticking at it late on and stalling less.
