SUMMARY
 Not a frantic pace but too strong overall. Another race here where the pressing on in the back straight to try to get a good place for the bend meant the leaders were going too strongly. ADC broke best and 1L clear early but then taken on by the end of the first furlong by pressing on BV (typical Nicholls prominent ride and respond to any challenge) and WFP making a big effort from the widest stall. MMika 3L+ back at halfway and URebel 6L+ and whipped and had struggled for pace in the back straight after a good break.
BV up in trip and form of 3rd last time at York misleading as that a slow race and he had the advantage of leading on a pace favouring track. Faded tamely off being pressed for the lead here and fading before stamina should have been the decider.
To make the point about BV fading too early you could compare his effort to that of WFP. 7lbs out of the handicap and poor form. Made more of an effort to get to join BV to the bend and then press him from 1 wide of the rail. Plugged on well enough and still 3rd at 1f out and stalling. Seemed like an improved effort despite the final position.
ADC never really going forward not looking comfortable. Allowed the two pressers to go past in the back straight and should have had a reasonable position to mount a challenge. But looked unbalanced and backing off around the bend and stumbled at one point and frightened himself. Some responst later on in the straight but a write off effort having run consistenly on flat & uphill tracks and looking less than happy going LH & downhill here.
MM best placed to plug on from midfield to inherit the lead.
UR outpaced in the back stright and still looking mentally young and not really geting involved. Whipped along into the straight and 6L back. Progress in centre track to get to the leaders inside the last 1F & plug on. Indcation of how a Closer could make ground with the race set-up.
GB the other 'Closer' but came right over to the rail and never got a clear run.
Hortensis ran a solid race considering she was hustled along into the bend to get from 7th into it to 3rd out into the straight. Running wide the whole way.
NS ought to habe been able to close up more but appeared not to stay the full 7f.
