SUMMARY
Strong wind as a crosswind from the left (poss slightly behind) in straight.
This Seller race run in 0.46s faster than the preceding 2yo Auction event and with this winner carrying 13lbs more and around a 20 point betterr performance.
Novabridge bought in for a high 16,500 guineas after the race. Odd in some ways to see him back on Firmer going here after being heavily eased at Thirsk last time on similar going. Connections reported the horse had lost it's action in later race there and hence the easing. Also odd to see the SP differential with literal form rating through Calormen suggesting Novabridge was a better horse than Tanked Up. Different ground conditions but Novabridge a comfortable winner on debut & got and OR70+ Review rating at Thirsk.
VT shows odd performance by Novabridge and perhaps show why he is in a seller. Slow to pick up and niggled along for most of first half of race with a couple of whip slaps and the jockey prepared for having to make the horse's mind up for him. Novabridge with head held slightly up and right for much of race and never realyl look like be was going forward comfortably. Either unwilling or feeling ground or a mix of both. Jockey ask for effort at halfway and headed Tanked Up. That one respond and a duel until around the 1F mark. TUp stall inside the last 1f, and Novabridge plug on, still head up and looking less than thrilled.
Tanked Up less bulky than Novabridge and a similar type to Look'n'Listen although a little more build than that one and a straighter mover.
Rath Maeve seem willing but too small to keep up with three bigger males.
