SUMMARY

Trainer Alan Swinbank at it again. Has racked up good STO profits in three of the last 4 years and blossomings off moderate debut efforts no surprise. CNTonic's debut effort oversold by 'moderate' and would have to be filed in the too-bad-to-be-true category to see the flowering. But, this a weak race with the 'Form' horses unproven. Add in some softer ground, failing to stay in some cases and the vagaries of where you race on the course making a big difference, then an event where anything could happen (as the SPs of the first 4 horses would suggest). Which would make a long price STO winner from Swinbank a more likely outcome than many others. Another example of the 'Market' being powerless in many cases despite the widespread, almost 'Faith' based belief, that it has all the answers. If someone really believes that they shouldn't be betting if you work through the logic.
Pace Average to around halfway but MFolly wound the pace up from there and field already well stretched by 2f out. Good effort from the cheap filly MF who has is an ok size and put everything except the winner under pressure until a late race fade.
CNTonic travelling best from halfway and ended up a comfortable winner and can develop further. A wonder why he would be so long an SP.
Pressure put on others meant they were properly tested on the ground. No 'eyecatchers' making places late anywhere near the worthwhile end of the race. NSB given an easy time after not picking up (ground?) and a 3TO run but has suspect form and likely to get an OR well above what he has done.
EAlley not pick up that well and hanging a little inside 2f out. Faded early from the competitive ones at 2f out.
