SUMMARY

Slower time and odd race. Appears to be a strong pace with the leaders not getting home but the way the race developed meant few competitive Closers. For example, Granny Anne small and limited. At 11L off the lead at halfway and struggling to keep up. Got back to 6th by trundling along at her pace. Look at the draws of first 7 home and you might think there was a high draw bias and this was an, old-fashioned, Beverley 5f race where everything hammered up the Far rail. Hard to think how this race could have been more different. Field always racing a little away from the Far rail with Absolutely 1.5L clear at halfway and VE a clear 2nd. The leader started hanging left inside the last 2F and was on the Stands' rail by just inside the last 1F. This 'Magnet' dragged most of the field with her and the field racing centre to stands' side for the last 1.5f. A lot of bumping and hampering as the runners tried to make progress with he prominent racers hanging and stalling across them.
Lot of horses supported and a numer of 'Today' rides and visually different race to those Windsor Tenderfests. Absolutely lead on debut and faded notably late on. Steamed off here and ran too freely. Given that and the hanging seems a good effort to still be second at the line. A Caveat that the whole race may be a bit soft.
Tallahasse another debut winner for Swinbank with his 2yos in full form. May well not have won without the stiff pace and the leaders fading. Slow break and last early. Had closed up to the leaders by 1.5F out so more ability than just plugging on into faders. Had to wait to find a gap through the hanging field. Going away from the faders at the finish.
NLiberty another supported newcomer and a bigger type in the field and good condition. Lost ground at the start and lacked the nous of the winner at 2F to pick up and make progress. Looked more of a galloper than pure 5f speed making ground to the last 1f. Presume Ok promise.
VE appeared to have been brought along as a 3TO improver and driven along to get to 2nd after a slow start. Some support in the Market but not the strength you would expect for these connecions if she was expected to win (say and OR80+ type).
