SUMMARY

Very long loading process. At least three fillies giving a lot of trouble and multiple attempts to load them. Biaraafa the worst and eventually loaded last with full set of hood and handlers. Had previously got half in and backed out scattering the handlers and with Jockey Spencer disappearing over her head forwards. Presumably he was stood on the sidebar trying to help drag her in. Jockey injured leg and gave up later rides but rode here.
Field race Centre to Stands' strip. Below Average Pace and usable for the leaders and WS got a comfortable lead and produced a solid kick off it. Jockey Munro on GD said after the race he was niggling at halfway and hoping WS would stop a little and come back to him on the uphill section (he was 1.5L back at halfway). He knew he was not going to be able to go and fetch her. He said instead she had kicked and gone away a little. Overall Munro was not convinced GD had given him what all she had in the latter stages.
Race does not have a strong record with the last 2 runnings having produced no later winners from the runners. Oddly the 7 x NRs & one withdrawal at the start have produced 5 winners. The 2007 edition had two later minor winners.
This a slow time for the conditions but enough pace int he last 2F+ to spreead field out a little. But a midfield of green and tenderly handled ones which might be ok. In context of the way the race developed PSeverus seemed to run well. Got behind early after a slow start. Got back to midfield going along settled by halfway and stoked up before 2F out to make clear progress in cenre track. Unlike GD she was able to go and fetch WS. Not the biggest in the field but a neat build and athletic mover. A trier and a competitive attitude.
WS solid build and lower to mid OR70s and another good run by a Dascombe 2yo after a poor season so far. Biaraafa solid build but not look 6f pace.
HCLady withdrawn on intended debut and jockey happy to get through this race with no mishaps.
Some interest in a couple of others at lower levels. Saxonette a solid size in the group if not neatly made behind and might not be able to move herself athletically. 40/1 to here and entered in a claimer in future. Better than that on bulk and some encouragement in the race. Slow start then free running when got back to the field. Switched to the rail before halfway and able to make progress there until cut-off by Biaraafa rolling onto it. That set her back just as the race speeded up and the jockey just asked her to do enough to stay in midfield. Ought to be up to winning a claimer and perhaps a little better.
Eyes On clueless but never faded and perhaps usable OR60s.
SGold too fizzy in the prelims and unbalanced at times in the race and the jockey unable to ride her properly.
