Janood talked up as useful and supported on debut and mostly looked the part. Dettori interviewed after the race said it had developed into a 2f sprint but he was comfortable he would lead in the end. Dettori is like Hughes on somewhat green newcomers in that he does not panic when they do not appear to be reeling in the leader quickly enough. Keep them balanced and use the full distance available and nudge ahead on the line if needs be. Busker and example of a couple of things the first being the 'Second String' effect. A perfectly usable later OR70s horse on Review and probably get an OR in the 80s. What is he doing in a maiden where he has an experience advantage at 14/1? Second an example of how difficult it can be to 'Fetch' any frontrunner that has had an easy time in the lead. A little more greenness from Janood, baulked in getting a run or whatever and another 14/1 'Second' winner. [Hughes interviewed earlier in the day after a lot of success at the Goodwood meeting putting horses in front on the line, using as long as needs be to overhaul the winner and not panicking. Despite all that it was clear he was still annoyed at not having got newcomer Big Issue to overhaul Pabusar earlier in the week with a similar ride. The horse just that bit too green but riding it entirely different to Spencer, for example.] Fourth FTO winner in last 5 debuts for trainer Suroor in a period (and extending into earlier August in 2009) when he introduced some higher class ones last year. Three of the lates FTO winners at short SPs with Farhh & White Moonstone presumably Listed+ class along with Janood. Good promise from RRM because green through the race after a slow start. Produced a real forward effor tinside the last 1f on the plateau after taking 1f+ to realise what was required. Closing up to the leading pair across a gap and going on through the line. |
