Stalls centre & field raced Stands' rail. Rail out as usual this year. Another race on the course where the leader (favourite) lead on the rail and was handed an easy lead by the rest of the field. Only the 2nd & 3rd through halfway within 5L of TimT at halfway and the rest held up in a bunch with most racing off the rail. At 7.6f it is the longest race of the season so far but to be competitive the jockeys still have to have their mounts closer to the leader and give him the race. Pace usable so no excuse for the extreme hold up efforts. Just looking at the halfway positions versus final placings FBW did pretty well to haul herself past the others to a never threatening second but still going forawrd in her leggy galloping style to the line. Had been a little free To Post and the jockey seemed more intent on trying to teach her to settle in early race than tracking the leader. Raced wide and found it difficult to get her covered up so not very productive in that sense. Only other real change in position was newcomer EMM trundling past some faders. RS now in Channon colours and usually refuses to settle and run too freely. Some of that in early race here and never asked to make an effor tin later race. |
