SUMMARY
Field came stands side in the straight. Result a little puzzling and one which can either be taken literally or set off trying to find reasons (excuses) for the shape which are not that satisfactory. Kingscroft appeared to improve LTO but effort here suggest that was another Newmarket maiden at an average pace which works out in mixed fashion. An alternative take might be that the pace was to stiff here and he failed to see the race distance out.
That does not seem right on one hand with TS & Heartbreak within a length of him in the leading line the whole way until it broke up. TS travelled best and bigger than the other two and probably just survived the pace better than that pair. Typical example of the odd way the occasional 2yo winner the trainer gets now can develop. Clueless in a seller on debut then punted LTO and not ridden to get into the race. No punt here and beats the field for plain ability on the evidence. Heartbreak ran too freely but still outlasted Kingscroft to suggest a poor run from that one.
But with the pace not frantic what is 150/1 shot IG doing trundling into second and not stopping. Slow start and 6L+ back at halfway. Stayed on in Centre track and perhaps that was an advantage. Look back and clueless on debut and slow start stopped any chance. Made an effort into a stiff pace STO against better horses and faded. Up to 7f LTO and ran a bit better considering she ran 5 wide the whole way around a bend. 150/1 partly reflect the trainer and presumably some of the ability shown here 'real' rather than the race falling apart. But, smaller type and not one to look to support to reproduce this or improve.
Niggle over shape of race added to by CTTBone getting back to midfield by the finish. Daft and unwilling for much of the race and 10L+ back at halfway. Got to midfield past the faders without being asked to do anything and up the same Centre field strip as IG. Runs for reliable trainer and might find a seller.
Winner probably one to follow, perhaps as 3yo, and can develop in handicaps. NL seems to need further and probably need a little time to develop physically.
