SUMMARY
Field raced centre track. Whole field within 5L of the lead at halfway. TTwo increase pace 2.5f out and effort 2f out saw him pull clear with PB A little green in front. Seems to have improved last two runs but OR in upper 70s looks beyond him an an averagely competitive Nursery. This a weak race and other than PB nothing got into it and a lot of 'Tender Handling'. The fact that the moderate Blade Pirate hung on so long in 3rd a bad sign.
Slower pace and the low level pilot activity produced a big ruck of horses from 4th back to 10th with some mild plodding on and a number getting in each others' way. The sort of ruck that if you set out looking for 'Eyecatchers' you could end up with most of them on the list. Probably better to try the other route and say they are plodding on to produce ratings that would not win a seller and nothing showing anything different. To make the point we could use TV luvvie Nicholas Luck as a reference point. He analyses race after race on TV and on the replays he will regularly give positive mentions to nearly everything in the race. If he had been talking over this race nearly everything would have 'show enough' to win a 'small auction or nursery'. But Mr Luck is too much of insider and is trying to be encouraging to too many people. Consider a bit of simple logic. 75% of 2yos do not win during the turf season. Stand yourself up as the Pundit after any race and just repeat, robotically, 'I would not take anything out of that race' and you will be correct more than 75% of the time. There already are not enough 'Nurseries' & 'Small Races' left to be run to accommodate the horses Lucky Boy has talked up. Well down the 'Broadcaster Of The Year'
If absolutely pressed then Ninfea looks like some sort of Kirk strangler being set up for a Seller and Bougatti did ok given how clueless she was. Sabratha literally strangled in early race as she was hauled back then allowed to do a bit late on. But standard stuff for a Curley horse.
Lack of pace shows up with only a couple of real faders. CP too free early as one. Lady Morganna drifting in the Market and eased before 1f out. No WTRB or Stewards' question. Too busy waiting for a horse to jink left on some hapless jockey probably.
