Slower pace and suspect form. Stalls stands side and field races Centre to Stands' strip. Looking at the first 7 through halfway the 7th was 3.7L off the lead. At the finish the 7th horse was beaten 3L. The halfway positions to final placings fit in with the general feel of a trundle and difficult to make places and ground. Plenty of quiet 'Hands & Heels' in behind with the midfield group huddled together and not going anywhere. Typical would be jockey Golam on 3TO KW on a rare ride for Gosden. Nudge it home without asking too much and let it go to Nurseries. Fallon took the opportunity of his horse being a little green and being 8th to give us his standing up 'Pulling Up' routine from 0.5f out. Which hauled BG well back when it could have trundled on a bit off the back at the finish. [Why does Fallon do that? In endless races he causes problems for jockeys behind by pulling up so early and quickly. Trainers like John Gosden like horses to be able to 'Run Out' after the race partly to let them 'come down' in an organised manner and also so he can judge how much energy they have left. Fallon tends to haul them to a halt much more quickly and looking like he is wrestling with a 'tearaway' at times rather than pulling up a horse who isn't putting up any fight.] Darej not that taking nor ready but a short price because of weak race. Took a long time to get on top and typical 'ugly' win given the pace. Next race a 3yo Maiden Handicap won by an OR45 4yo carrying 7lbs less before any apprentice allowance correction. She ran the 6f 1.38s faster than this race. The actual performance level here would not win an average seller. |
