Most solid pace (relative to horse quality) of three x 7f juvenile events on card. Race set up for Closers by the pace. Field race Stands' Rail to Centre in all three races. Despite being at a 'Major Course' a Seller with a moderate record of producing future winners. Last two editions have produced a single later winner (both seller level). 2007 race a bit better with the placed horses including two who won Nurseries off sub OR70 ratings and a clamier winner. That race had the 'Right' sort of trainers at the front to produce the later winners. Bigger field here and a bit more sunstance int he placed horses than the last two years. Some efforts of minor interest. Cometh ran well as the most persistent of the pace pressers and still responding late on when the winner veering offered a late chance to challenge. Trainer has inconsistent record with 2yos and not a good judge of the ability he has. LOrdie did more than just Close into tired horses and real forward effort. Comes from reliable stable that do know the quality they have. 33/1 a bit of a puzzle. Both Hannon horses plugging on late into tired horses by comparison. KOverstreet bigger type and punted here and given the 'Today' version of the Culhane ride. But, hanging left from before halfway and not going forward. Hampered on the rail 2F with Culhane still persisting but not threatening to pick up anyway because of the hanging. Loe level effort but unusual run from MDragon. Racing nearer to the rail and outpaced before 2F out and hung over to Centre track and probably back in 14th. Then plugged on to get back to 8th late on in centre track. Small. |
