Slow pace and poor time but two good efforts from the better newcomers to overpower the runners with bits of previous form. Questioning supported and a good example of why the trainer's newcomers tend to be better class. Not 'tuned' for the day but green and making life hard for himself throughout the race but winning anyway. Slow start, getting shuffled back, running wide, having to get from 9th to the lead in a 2f sprint starting around a bend and so on. Just a better horse and you would presume can compete ok at Listed+ level. TWebb that bit more ready for the day and a solid type but less good than the winner. Comfortable winner himself otherwise but less scope to develop. Presume Open Maiden level as a minimum. Dubarshi at long SP off a break from a nothing debut. SP partly reflects trainer. She has never had a 2yo winner during the turf season with limited opportunities. But one that has placed for her at this course during the turf season has then run on the AW during the winter in each of her three seasons with a licence. All have won on the Lingfield AW between late December (1 x 2yo) or in Jan-Mar period. All have rated OR72-80 and Dubarshi appeals as a similar level rather than a Volunteer 3rd. Ok size, efficient mover, solid temperament. Usable to keep battering away on the AW here until he wins something. Buxfizz talked up a bit on each run and support here. Ran al little freely and got bumped before mid-race but not real excuses. The winner had a much worse time. Still look green and not going forward properly in the final 2f sprint (unlike the straightfoward looking Dubarshi, for example). Still needs to develop. |
