Field raced Centre to Far Side and final efforts down the Far Rail. Average Pace, at most, to after halfway with whole field within 3L+ of the lead at that point. Early pace below average with a lot of pulling and fighting for heads in the first 1.5f+. Elkmait , given an easy lead, slightly uppped the pace at that point to make the pullers more settled. CL in leading pair with Elkmait but notably tractable and listening to the jockey. WM & M'kaat the others to settle properly early with each of the others being involved in some type of exchange with their jockeys. Pace wound up early from around 3F out with Dettori on the winner aready starting to make a little progress and watching the leaders and realising he did not want them to get another 1L, for free, on top of the 3L start they already had. Not a strong Group 3 but a good effort by WM and she again showed the same really strong effort that she displayed late on at Ascot. Used that surge at 2F out here and took here to the lead quite quickly. An asset which will mean she can be competitive in tougher races. CL caught out in slow race when held up and the advantage of a prominent run here and a nipper filly for the 2f sprint the race developed into. Not a strong profile to go on. Some interest in the effort by AM who was staying on again at the finish. Up in trip after a hold-up effort at Ascot over 6f that should have helped her in a race where the Closers did best. Faded there. |
