Rail out (again, is it ever In). Slow pace and slow time. Difficult to make places and ground in later race. Suspect form if read literally & need to factor in starting positions for the late race sprint. Field spread over 5L at Halfway but LC 1.5L off the 7th and first 5 within 2.5L and the first 3 within 1L of the lead. Alfraamsey one of a number of early starting 2yos running, a lot, in nurseries at present with their OR makrs going down. Not competing well and not showing their earlier form. Presume this bunch will eventually find a lower mark they can win off when they find some better condition and 'Form'. Whodathought first string for Hannon and jockey Hughes said in interview he was surprise it had not won LTO. Horse showed more at home than it had at Newbury. No better here and again finished behind the stable's SWIB (well placed for race shape by Dobbs) but at shorter SP. Hughes had to give him a hard ride from 2.5f out and horse not fading by the finish but clearly thinking about it and trying to balance not exerting himself with the need to comply a little with the message from the jockey. Okish effort by LCap given the race set-up. Plugging on in the last 0.5f to make some progress to 4th from last but took a long time to get going and initially a little outpaced at 2f out. CCastle unable to raise pace to make ground but not losing any and going along maintaining his place. RG inproved for hold-up run LTO but in a race with more pace pressure. Ran too free at times but able to make an ok effort to get to 3rd quite quickly but no further progress against the front 2 and head held up for most of the last 1f. Trainer Knight seems unusually obsessed by going. More than 25% of his declarations have ended up being NRs. All because of 'Going' and with four different horses. |
