10mm of rain during day & Heavy Shower at 17:00 but jockey reported rain had not got in and they were kicking the top off a firmer base as divots. Rain after this race so later times probably not directly comparable. [ATR pundit said prior to race that SAP had run well at Nottingham, on Heavy ground, so would be suited by the GS going after the shower. Which is about as wrong as it is possible to be. Rain had not got in and just as well because SAP underperformed badly at Nottingham and jockey Spencer reported to the stewards she was unsuited to the wet going. That was the Pundit's level of preparation for the odds-on favourite in a 5 runner event. Frightening.] SAP a little free early and 2L clear as cut across to rail. Pace settled after 2F and allowed two slow starters to close up tot he other three. SAP make the usual 2F out effort and stretch the field out again to the line. Indian Narjes a solid debut and comfortable progress to 2nd and jockey not press her to try to chase SAP inside the last 1F. Ought to be OR75+ and capable of open maiden win. |
