SUMMARY

Stalls Stands' Side and field raced within 5-6 lanes of the Rail.
Pace seemed too strong with Five horses in a line out from the rail at halfway within 1L of each other (from rail out as SP, Standout, Songsmith, CA & Lowawatha). PHerald in 6th but 4-5L back from this line and missing the pace. Other 6 all struggling with some combination of the pace and the going and spread over 8L to 16L back from the lead. Final placings to halfway positions suggest the forcing line of five broke up and finished mixed in with the leading edge of the strugglers with ARannan & RReach not OR70s types.
Probable that PHerald only horse competent enought and handling ground to get to a 'Stalking' position to pick up the pieces as the leading line broke up. Clear winner but moderate form level needs to prove form on better going and more balanced race pace set-up.
In review terms would pick out Songsmith as the best type and one to follow. Trainer more NH focussed but gets good 'FTO' runs in NHF and hurdle races and a solid preparer for debut. Ought to be OR70+.
SPoint strong and compact and presumably ran too free in the conditions and worth another chance on faster going to prove OR70+ which he ought to be capable of.
