Stalls Centre to Stands' Side. Field race mostly straight although perhaps move a little towards centre track. An average pace and a compact field from early. CLad in 5th at halfway but only 1.5L off the lead. Approve just over a length back from leading three of Kojak, Magic Stella & PLM in 4th at Halfway & OME 8th at 3L. First three home in group on same part of track as efforts start 2F out. WDancer make progress from nearly 5L back at halfway and on the other side (Stands') of the Group. MS outpaced from leading line as sson as efforts go. PLM respond & there until fade 1F out. Kojak took time to respond but did so for pretty strong pressure (for Hughes on debut) and still in leading line in 2nd (perhaps a Neck down on CLad) when applying the brakes & veering left and unseating the jockey. Difficult to know whether this was the horse being a bastard or not. He had tried to buck the jockey off when let go out of the walk to the course by his handler. Strong ride suggest he may not be willing. Approve rolling a little left a couple of times before Kojak veer and slightly carrying PLM towards him so might have responsded to that. But, then dropped his shoulder to make sure the jockey was removed and immediately straightened himself up and went back across to join the group finishing '9th' & still closing into midfield. Getting rid of jockeys may be part of his repertoire. OME travel best and last to be asked for his effort (i.e. last off the bridle). Hung a little right and not pick up immediately. strong enough finish in final furlong to believe better class. WDancer remarkably calm as Kojak veer across him and deposit Hughes close enough in front of him so the horse kicked him on the leg. Perhaps the pair work together at Hannon's and he has seen this before. Strong finish and still responding to line. Solid progress from 10th in average pace race. You wonder about the Meehan debuts. Educational FTO for the horse to develop from are one idea but another clueless effort from a Meehan runner here to add to Angle Knight in 2010. Radiohead gave a similar performance in 2009 on debut and managed to progress to challenge late on. VUnderground just moderate progress here. Al Sharood for new trainer Zarooni another to be given an educational ride for him to follow Pasquino. Just hands-and-heels and a brief effort than let her drift back. Those two have been 10/1 & 14/1. The other debut (Ahtoug's 2nd at Haydock) was 7/4f and pressing from early on and strongly ridden in a duel to line. Early indications that the Market may know a bit about the stable's juveniles? |
