Stalls stands' side. Field race Centre to stands' side. Average pace set by small filly Loves Theme & much bigger Jossy Johnston attended by Clarke Lane. Ahtoug accepting being held in behind but barely out of a canter to the pace set & would have been more naturally comfortable at a faster pace. 1st & 2nd pull clear like the better horses the Profile suggested but not put much distance back to Loves Theme because of average pace. She is 2-3 Class levels below that pair & not a result to read literally. CL first runner of year for Michael Jarvis and typical strong debut from the best of his early runners. His stable already in good form with his older runners in 2009 going along at a 30%+ Strike Rate. Ahtoug travelled like the best horse through most of race and bigger and lengthier striding than CL. Joined CL comfortable and not asked for his effort until towards the last 1F because strode into leading line unpressed. Mostly HnH from Jockey last 1F & odd whip tap. CL respond and look a bit more knowing but perhaps a hint of Ahtoug not going by and galloping along unpressed while CL had his head down battling. First runner of year for Gosden and a typical inexperienced and poor effort. Ran two across the Divisions of this race as his 2nd & 3rd runners of the year in 2009. They were 9th & 10th at 5/2 (OR70s maiden winner for major owner) and 7/1 (moderate non-winner for major owner & sold on). MSM another supported debut runner for Tom Tate. Trainer used to have good FTO Strike Rate & be profitable to follow. More mixed results in recent seasons. 4 debuts this season have produced a 5/1 winner (showed some inexperience but enough pace in race to lead late) and three unplaced with MSM green and hanging left at times here, Breathless Storm leading then veering Left & Right later int he race & Wild Hysteria running poorly at Catterick (unsuited to track said the trainer). |
