Fast Conditions on day. Race a little quicker than the first Division but run in a very different way. That was a typical averageish pace to 2.5f out with little happening and then and increase in pace before the full efforts 2f out. Which sets a base for all the fillies to show what they can do in that sort of race set up. This looked to be conforming to the pattern but with only one leader with Shim Sham going a little freely in front and a bigger, athletic type. Front of the field a little stretched after 3f with only CW & MHill forming a second rank with LayT behind then a gap back to, inattentive, ruck. Jockey on the leader allowed her a bit of rein to increase the pace around halfway and quickly went 3-4L clear for little effort and, in effect, the race was over unless she faded badly. Next three fillies caught out a little but vaguely in range if they could produce a strong effort. The rest in trouble with the 5th through halfway 7L back, Caraboss at 9L, Khawlah at 12L and the rest spread out to 20L off the lead. Shim Sham declared previously for races that suggest she is above average in the Meehan 2yos. Clueless on debut and did everything wrong. Slow start, running too freely and pulling when she did get going, and so on. 33/1 here a reflection of how difficult the large fields and umpteen meetings a day make it for the market to find the corect price levels for many horses. Khawlah talked up as useful. Got behind early and found herself locked up on the rail well back inside the last 3f with the winner already gone. Good effort in the last 2f once into centre track to get from 9th to a going on 2nd at the line with an extended run. Did enough with that to make the hype seem more than plausible. Good promise from Caraboss with a lesser closing effort but with a typical Stoute type 'educational intro' ride. Probably a longish tail of moderate ones and enought pace to separate a lot of the field correctly. EPrincess given a totally non-involving ride and probably ok. But, why was her stablemate SRed at 100/1 and finishing in front of her. That one an ok size but looked a bit free running and wilful. By the FS sire Diamond Green (noted before in these results) and perhaps another 'ok' phusical type of his 2yos but with some form of attitude issue. Seemed to go ok here despite being a bit green/. |
