SUMMARY
Fast Conditions on day.
Unsatisfactory race which developed into a 2f sprint and little changes in position or distance between the fillies from halfway (1L+ at most). SC setting a below average pace to halfway when joined by Rimth who had been 2-3L back on 6th early but allowed to progress because of the lack of pace. Rimth kicked the race off by heading the leader 2f out amd made the best effort to pull out 0.5L+ over the field. Stalling late and headed on the line. Brevity able to make up 1L to the line to head Rimth on the dip to the line.
MDid a smaller model but athletic in this group. But, you would worry that she is missing the boat and has less scope to develop. Her forward burst when let go has usually been striking but less so here. Nothing much happened when asked to produce something extra to the last 1f. Her burst was either missing or this slower race not enable her to show it. The last three Group races she has been in have had hectic paces and she has been able to finish into stalling and fading runners. Not the case here.
Jockey Turner has been anonymous this season and her efforts on MDid have not suggested she is likely to bridge the gap between a solid level jockey and a top line one. THis filly should really have won in her last 4 runs. A classic moment in this race to halfway with MDid caught in a pocket on the rail as Rimth moved to engage the leader. The problems LTO seem to play on the jockey's mind and she immediately tried to switch her filly off the rail. Jockey on Brevity did not allow this and after some bumping put MDid back on the rail. The sort of action a jockey would only try on, say, Fallon just once.

[Of general ongoing 'Pointless Pundit' interest this race brought up a magnificent treble in 3 races for Dave Nevison having dismissed the two 33/1 winners of the maidens and clearly had never looked at their races nor the form. Told the audience that Clive Cox didn't go for debut wins on one of them which is just nonsense. Half his debuts have placed this year including wins. He prepares his runners well for debut and he is regularly profitable to follow. He hadn't looked at Shim Sham's notably green debut so dismissed that one. Here, he clearly hadn't done any work for the race so his summary for Brevity did not get past saying the Ffos Las maidens are no good. Which is also nonsense and the results on this site (amongst others) said the Ffos Las maiden she won was ok and good promise for Listed level.
Mr Nevison does say useful things at times but nearly always about the business of going about betting. He has said himself that the form study he used to use to bet successfully has not been finding him the opportunities it used to for some time and he is struggling to claw back losses. His view being that the game has moved on. His efforts here and generally clearly show he has not got the desire to do the graft to improve and find new ways of analysing races. Not even to read the form diligently as he used to. Instead, he works through the same old, unproven, ideas without checking them and pockets the pundit's cheque. Oh, and spending a lot of time talking about the 'Market' as if it has all the answers. In general when people start talking about the Market and the SP as if it will tell you all the answers it indicates they haven't got a clue themselves and hope they can tune into what thinking other people have done by it. Grisly.]
