Fast conditions with track prepared for a Highlight day for Kempton. This race a Juvenile Course Record and previous fastest three times in the equivalent event. Elnawin ran 71.91s in 2008 carrying 2lbs less, Dhanyata 72.22s (2006, 7lbs less) & Philario 72.25s (2007, 2lbs less). Last year's winner was Love Lockdown in a leisurely 72.96s and well down the overall list. Start of the race a very good example of how horse's that are well behaved enough to go into the stalls can get messed up by those that won't. Whole field loaded and waiting for SITS to go in. He has several goes and perhaps taking up 2 minutes plus while the others wait on top of any other waiting. TPaddyman ok initially then a little fractious and tail held by a handler. Eventually he cracks and rears up and has to be taken out. FC in next stall and either set off by the other horse or kicked by him and also taken out. SITS then given more time and effort before he eventually goes in and gets his run (a moderate one in line with his demeanour at the stalls). If he had gone in first time, even third time, the two withdrawn horses would have got away with no problems. |
